The Application Status and Usage of Cow Dung
Nowadays, people regard cow dung as a kind of biomass resource. Processing cow dung in an eco-friendly way can not only make a great use of cow dung, but also protect environment.
The usage of cow dung:
Cow dung can be used to make fodder. There are lots of nutrients in cow dung. Proper processing can improve the true nutrient value of protein and refine the palatability of fodder. The recent processing methods mainly include drying method, decomposition method and fermentation method.
- Drying method
It can be divided into natural drying method and mechanical drying method. Natural drying method: some bran is added to cow dung, then the compound material will be spread on cement floor in the sun. This method costs a little and is convenient to operate. But it is easy to be influenced by weather. What’s more, this method is likely to cause pollution. Mechanical drying method:
- Decomposition method
This method is also called “insect method”. It can make use of maggots, earthworms and snails to decompose manure. For example, we can raise earthworms and maggots in cow dung. The cow dung processed by lower animals can be used as fertilizer which is still high-efficiency. Decomposing method is pretty economical, but the early stage of sterilizing and dewatering cow dung is difficult to operate. So this method is not used widely.
- Fermentation method
This method requires to add some microbial agent and zymin into cow dung. Then, cow dung should be composted under appropriate temperature. The finished product can be used to feed pigs, chicken, fished, etc. After dewatering pretreatment, cow dung can become more nutritive.
